If you're looking for a quiet or discreet vibrator, look for something silicone or with a softer finish. Hard plastics reverberate sound more and are almost always louder and less discreet. These suggestions should not be heard through a couple blankets, and especially not through closed doors or walls.

I've always found my LELO Alia to be a surprisingly quiet clit vibrator. It's pretty expensive, but I don't foresee it breaking anytime soon... definitely worth a look.
